CodeWalkers ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website at codewalkers.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you visit our site. Cloudflare country decides which consent banner you see. Clicky sets no tracking cookies. Loading rules for Clicky and Google Analytics differ for the US/rest of the world and for the opt-in countries (the EU, EEA, and UK, plus Switzerland, Brazil, Canada, South Korea, China, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Turkey, Vietnam, Colombia, and Gibraltar). Information We Collect

Automatically Collected Information

When you visit our site, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may automatically collect:

  • IP address (anonymized for analytics)
  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system
  • Referring URL
  • Pages visited and time spent
  • Country/region of access

Clicky may also receive the page URL, referrer, browser and operating system, an anonymized IP address, and country when it is allowed to load. When Google Analytics is on, Google may also receive similar usage data. We use the Cloudflare country code to choose the consent regime. If that country is missing or unknown, we apply the US/rest rules.

Cloudflare also uses your IP address and country to protect the site: it blocks access from Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, and Belarus, and it may challenge or block traffic that looks automated or abusive. See our Terms of Service for why some countries are blocked.

Cookies and Local Storage

We use minimal cookies and local storage for essential site functionality:

  • Theme preference: stores your light/dark mode choice (localStorage)
  • Cookie consent: records your cookie preference (localStorage)

Clicky sets no tracking cookies. In the US and the rest of the world, Clicky loads on every visit and Google Analytics loads only after Accept All. In the opt-in countries, Accept All loads Clicky and Google Analytics, Necessary Only loads Clicky only, and Decline loads neither. We do not use advertising cookies. Information You Provide

If you contact us via email, we collect the information you provide in your message (name, email address, message content).

Newsletter

If you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your email address and record that you signed up from our site. Our newsletter provider, Bento, stores it and sends the emails. Bento's script loads only when you press Subscribe to submit the signup form. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in any newsletter email, or by emailing us.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Serve and improve our website content
  • Respond to your inquiries
  • Send the newsletter you signed up for
  • Ensure site security and prevent abuse
  • Understand aggregate usage patterns (not individual tracking)

We do not sell or share your personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA.

Data Retention

Server logs are retained by our hosting provider (Cloudflare) in accordance with their data retention policies. Clicky retains analytics data under its own privacy policy. Google Analytics retains data under Google's privacy policy. Bento keeps newsletter subscribers until they unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. We do not independently store personal data beyond what is necessary to respond to inquiries and send the newsletter.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Data may be shared with:

  • Cloudflare: our hosting and CDN provider, for site delivery and security
  • Clicky (Roxr Software Ltd): website analytics; no advertising. See Clicky's Privacy Policy
  • Google Analytics: website analytics after Accept All. See Google's Privacy Policy
  • Bento (Backpack Internet Pty. Ltd.): newsletter sign-ups and emails, only if you subscribe. See Bento's Privacy Policy

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including HTTPS/TLS encryption for all connections and Cloudflare's security infrastructure.

Children's Privacy

Our site is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Material changes will be noted prominently.
