CodeWalkers is a developer publication on AI coding tools and programming. We publish practical guides, comparisons, and developer news so you can pick a tool, learn a language, or check what changed this week without wading through vendor hype.

That one line is the job of this page. Team bios, editorial standards, and contact live on /about/. The hubs hold the depth. Here we only answer what CodeWalkers is and where a new reader should click next.

What We Cover

The site sits on a few hubs you can open from the homepage or /start-here/.

AI coding tools. Setup, reviews, and head-to-heads for editors and harnesses such as Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, and OpenCode. The question is which tool fits which job on a weekday, including local and cloud options when the docs support them. Start at /ai-coding-tools/.

Programming. Language and stack guides for people who still need the fundamentals under the agents: Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, Go, Rust, SQL, PHP, Swift, HTML and CSS, and related paths. Agents do not replace knowing how a query fails or why a build broke. Start at /programming/.

Vibe coding and AI code review. Workflows where you describe the work and the model writes code, plus how to catch bugs before they ship. Those tracks live next to the tools and programming hubs on Start Here. We treat prompting as a craft with limits, not as a slogan.

AI developer news. Model releases and tooling changes as they land, kept to significant events rather than a daily rumor feed. See /news/.

We test what we write about. Guides and reviews are meant to survive a weekday install, not a press brief. When a claim needs a primary source, we point at the official docs or changelog instead of inventing a number.

History

CodeWalkers began as a coding site about twenty years ago, when the useful unit of work was still a language tutorial, a database note, or a server recipe you could finish on a lunch break. Readers came for steps in order: install, configure, run, fix the error on their machine. That archive shaped how we still write.

In 2026 the publication relaunched around AI-assisted development. The craft questions did not vanish. What runs on your machine, what the docs actually say, and whether the demo survives Monday still decide whether a guide ships. The new surface is the agent stack on top of those questions: coding tools, vibe workflows, review, and news.
